The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office CID was formed in 1997 and has four full time investigators. The purpose of the Criminal Investigations Division ( CID ) is to fully investigate major crimes such as narcotics, homicide, sexual assaults, robbery, fraud, assault, and extortion. CID is responsible for the investigation of all major crimes in the county and is active with the Rappahannock River Narcotics Task Force.
Lt. E. Timothy Self supervises the Criminal Investigations Divison. Self left CID in March 2004, and returned in January 2006. Self is a graduate of the Virginia Forensic Science Academy, a Virginia certified firearms instructor, and a certified armorer. His additional training includes fire scene investigations, homicide investigations, crime scene photography and financial crime investigations.
Investigator Ronald W. Hudson joined CID in May of 2004. Prior to his promotion as an investigator, Hudson served in the uniform patrol division at the rank of Master Deputy. He brings with him some 19 years of law enforcement experience, having served with the Richmond City Police Department for 3 years before joining this office in 1988. Hudson has received training in homicide investigations, hostage negotiations, and interview and interrogations. In November, 2006 he graduated from the Virginia Forensic Science Academy.
Investigator Joan N. Kent has 24 years of law enforcement experience and recently returned to CID after serving the last 8 years with another agency. Kent has experience in communications, jail operations, D.A.R.E., uniform patrol and sexual assault investigations. She specialized in narcotics investigations and was the co-coordinator of a multi-jurisdictional drug task force for 10 years. A "Top Gun" graduate of Virginia's specialized drug investigation training school, Kent is recognized by Virginia courts as an expert witness in criminal narcotics cases. She graduated from the top of her basic training class at the Rappahannock Regional Criminal Justice Academy and received its Academic Achievement Award.
Inv. Robert F. Moore, Jr. joined CID in February 2008 after serving in the patrol division for just over 11 years. While new to the CID unit, Moore has extensive experience working narcotics street crimes. He is a certified firearms instructor and is the agency's narcotics canine handler. |
